Week #43 - Friends and Giggles

Good morning everyone, Nancy here today to share with you a layout I made of my daughter and a few of her friends.

Supplies Used:

  • Hydrangea Hippo Love is Grand Kit
  • Smooch Spritz Emerald Sprinkle
  • White Core'dinations Cardstock
  • American Crafts Thickers
  • Studio Calico Wood Icons
  • Webster's Pages Journal Card
  • Martha Stewart Glitter
Step 1:  To make the most of my paper, I cut a border out of my paper at 1/2 inch all the way around and mounted it to my white cardstock.  This leaves me with a sheet of paper 11x11 to use on a later project.

Step 2:  I cut the stiped paper at 3"x 11 and mounted that inside the border and added a piece of ribbon just underneath.
Step 3:  I mounted my photo first on a piece of red cardstock and then on the banner paper for more interest.
Step 4:  I glued my mounted photo underneath the ribbon on my layout.  And added the journaling card right under the first photo.
Step 5:  To add the title, I first placed my alphabet onto a clear ruler, this allows me to place the letters in a straight line as well as move them around to see where they best fit.
If you like, you could stop here with a title, journaling and photos, this layout would be complete.  Or you can take it to the next level by adding embellishments.

Step 6:  To embellish the wood icons, I first misted them with the Smooch Spritz, and then applied a layer of dry adhesive to the top (I used my Xyron adhesive, but any glue will work).
Step 7:  Sprinkle glitter over the adhesive.  I used my finger and a piece of sticker paper to ensure the glitter was secured.
You can then place the shapes throughout your project.  I also added a few cardstock hexagons for added interest.

Step 8:  Create tab shape from cardstock and adhere to top corner of layout.  I  added an additional glitter shape on top.
You can add additional ribbons and trims, stickers, etc as desired.
Thanks for stopping by.

Week #42 - MY ROCK....

Hi Marion Emberson here from the UK.
I don't know if I'm more excited that I'm doing my first ever blog post for Layout-A-Week OR that Jennifer has introduced me to a product that I didn't know existed - Glue Gloss....I love it !!! The fact that I've owned a retail store for 11 years and never seen it makes me hang my head in shame LOL... So after this post I'm on the search.
For this layout I've used the fabbi Bo Bunny Love Letters papers along with a few other yummies that I'll list later.

I've used one of the papers as my background and then started cutting into the others to make banners and pennants etc.
I inked around the edges of all the cut pieces, something I haven't done for ages !!!
Using twine, I tied a bow and placed this on the centre pennant.
Then I placed the other pieces either side of the pennant
This is where I got really excited...I used the Glue Gloss...it's amazing !!! It sticks so well
I'm going to digress now, as when Jennifer sent the package with all the goodies in, it was like Christmas and it was all packaged so lovely, including this little box of patterned circles, so I had to use them AND a little bit of the ribbon, of course.
I used one of the circles and cut the flower out that was printed on it and added twine underneath to
make a flower embellie.
I randomly added some rather lush stickers from Crate Paper

And then I finished off by cutting a title out using my Silhouette and white Vinyl
To make this happen I've used :-
Bo Bunny Love Letters paper
Crate Paper Phrases stickers
Glue Gloss - LOVE #justsaying
Crafters Pigment Ink
American Crafts Adhesive Foam Tabs
Silhouette Cameo and Silhouette Vinyl
Twine
And let's not forget the box full of circles :) :)
I hope you've enjoyed my first post and I can't wait for my next turn
Hugs

Week #41: Double-Sided Love

Hey everyone!  I'm so excited to share with you my first layout for Layout-A-Week!  This week I want to talk about what to do when you love both sides of a paper, but you only have one sheet.  What to do???  Use both sides on one layout!  It's so easy to decide where your pictures will go and then cut out that section of the paper so you have a piece of the opposite side as well.  This is highlighted in the video, so please watch how I do it.  Please leave any questions you might have and I will answer them.  Have a great week!

Week #40: A Simple Page Using the Scrapbook.com Color Tool

Howdy friends!

I am trying to get my scrapbooking groove and mojo back on after a few months of not scrapbooking. It's kinda hard to switch gears sometimes but I keep on taking pictures so scrapbooking is like the hobby that's never done. The trick is trying to find a way to switch gears that is easy. I know so many scrapbookers who do so much more than just scrapbooking - knitting, wood burning, building stuff out of pallets! We all need a little help sometimes to get back in the scrapbooking groove.

I recently found out about the scrapbook.com photo matching color tool. I had NO IDEA they had such an amazing tool!!!

Upload your photo to the tool and it will give you color combos that will match your photo, as well as suggest products that will make scrapping those photos much easier. I used the color tool to create this layout with all kinds of old papers from my stash:

Here's how the tool works and how I then used the color suggestions to choose papers for the page:
