Bio:  Hello, I’m Kymona Tracey. Who am I, you ask? I am a women who never slows down and loves it. Yes… I am the energizer bunny’s sister! I just keep going and going (which is something that I am working on, if you follow my weekly wishes on my blog). I am a single mother of two wonderful children who are 8 years apart. My 18 year old son is a true self-made jock who plays every sport you can think of! He is leaving for college in a few months.  My 9 year old daughter is a real life princess who loves anything crafty and girly and absolutely hates anything related to sports. Talk about yin and yang! …but I love it!! Besides running from one activity to another with them, I work full time at a hospital (public health background), facilitate a reading group at work, teach high school students on the weekends and have a huge love of learning new things. I’ve taken classes in photography, web design, knitting, scrapbooking and card-making. I love them all, however, my true passion is card-making. I was introduced to card making back in 2004 and haven’t turned back since. I started out as a hobbyist just making cards for family and friends. People were always ecstatic when they received a card from me. What they did not know was that it made me feel just as special to make a card for them. This passion pushed me into teaching card-making classes at work with a couple of coworkers who wanted to learn how to make projects for their families. In September 2013, I made a big leap and created my blog, Kreative Kymona. Besides being a mom, I think that this has been one of my most rewarding accomplishments. Just being able to share with my world community makes life so rewarding!

Bio: Hi! I'm Rose, a 36 year old Stay-at-home, wife, mother of 4, grandmother, professional blogger at Immutable Ramblings and inspired creative. It started as a love for capturing and documenting my family's memories and quickly turned into a passion for inspiring others. The happiness I have found has ignited the desire to encourage and inspire others to explore their own creative expression.

Day of the Dead - Week #41

Hi Ladies!
Today I'm going to share my layout and it is all about the "Day of the Dead"  and a little of what is this Mexican holiday.

Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos.. is a holiday we celebrate in Mexico in particular the Central and South regions.. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died and help the support their spiritual journey.. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called "Ofrendas" honoring the deceased using sugar skulls marigolds and the favorite beverages and food of the departed, also visiting graves to be with the souls of the departed.. the intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so the souls will hear the prayers and the comments of the living directed to them.. Celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.

Jose Guadalupe Posada created a famous print of a figure he called La Calavera Catrina.. as a parody of a Mexican upper-class female..

I went in 2012 to Guadalajara Mexico and as I said in central Mexico they decorate everywhere with paper mache Catrinas.. I took some pictures and some I use in my layout..

We always can use papers even if they are for a different occasions.. This paper is Christmas paper but I think it was perfect for my layout!

This iron transfer was my inspiration for this Layout... As you know I love fussy cutting so I cut the Iron transfer with my excellent Westcott Craft Titanium non stick scissors!!! and was perfect to embellish my layout!

This is a simple-easy layout and I use 3 photos!

The Catrina Skull is a great embellish and I add some pearls with my Pearl Pen..

Also I add some Molding Paste and Embossing powders from Color Box to give more color.. Day of the dead is also a lot of color!

I just did my Title with my lovely Sakura White Pen.. some flowers from my stash and ready!!!
I hope you get some inspiration and see you next Tuesday with another fabulous Layout-A-Week!

Hello there. I am the new Layout A Week Design Team Coordinator.   My name is Nicole and I am married to Jacob and together we have 3 children.  Little Jacob is 10, Caleb is 8 and Chloe is 5.  We just recently moved (like less than  month ago recent) from Southern California to Prescott Valley, Arizona.  We are loving our new home and town.  I love to scrapbook both traditional and Project Life style.  I love photography.  I have an etsy store where I make wood signs and many other custom things.  I just love to be creating.  I have a slight Diet Pepsi obsession, and am working on drinking more water.  I am looking forward to working with all these talented ladies on our current Design Team.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been “creative”. Making things came easy to me and I wanted to make creativity come as easily to other people. When I added a dual major of Mathematics to my English Literature major in college, it was because Math had finally clicked for me and I wanted to demystify the how and why of math for others through teaching. It is that same desire to remove the shroud of secrecy from creativity. After 12 years in the craft industry, I have made a ton of useless, but pretty, crap. Really. Now the core of my philosophy is to make things that matter. They can matter in a practical way, like a shelf is a practical solution for storing books. They can matter in an emotional way by making memories and strengthening bonds through a family adventure or by making a connection with others through heartfelt discussions on life’s lessons. How to work better, eat cleaner, live strategically, and create smarter are all at the core of what I work to do every day, in pursuit of happiness and the meaning of life. Yeah, it’s deep. But simple. That’s just JP for ya.

WEEK 30 - END OF YEAR PARTY

Hi everyone!  It's August!!!  Time for reflections of summer and gearing up for back-to-school time.  This reminded me of my daughter's end of the year party she had in May.  For the end of her first grade year, her teacher hosted a party at her family's ranch.  The kids and their families came and rode horses, had a pot luck and ate s'mores.  It was so much fun!  I wanted to be sure I documented this quickly.  Check out the video to see my thoughts and process!

Supplies:

  • Patterned Paper: Echo Park, Crate Paper, Webster's Pages, cardstock
  • Thickers: Printshop
  • Stickers: Crate Paper Notes & Things
  • Flair: American Crafts
  • Enamel dots: My Mind's Eye
Thanks so much for joining me today.  I hope I helped spark some ideas for summer and school layouts to make your own!  Have a great week!

WEEK 21 - DADDY SNUGGLES

Hi everyone!  In June, we celebrate Father's Day!  I wanted to take this opportunity to scrap some pictures of my husband with our daughters.  I found these pictures of my husband snuggling in bed with my girls when they were babies and my heart just instantly melted!  I love making pages about my girls with the same type of picture from when they were around the same age.  Just seeing the difference in their looks and personality is so cool to witness!  My girls are about 3.5 years apart, so seeing them at the same age is so interesting for me.  I challenge you to find two pictures that were taken at different times and put them together on a page.  Please check out my video to see the process.  Enjoy!

Supplies:

  • Patterned Paper: Glitz (background), Bo Bunny (blue dots), Crate Paper (font), Echo Park (cut apart)
  • Stickers: Crate Paper Notes & Things
  • Alphas: Thickers - Bree, Teresa Collins
  • Glassine bag

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'd love for you to head over to my blog as well: www.thescrapangel.blogspot.com

Have a great week!

WEEK 18 - BACK TO SCHOOL

I thought that in honor of school almost being out, I would get this layout done from my sons first day of school this year.  I try to always make their own scrapbook layout to go in their Project Life School Albums.  I got Caleb's done, but I never got around to Jacob's.  So I told myself I had to finish it before this school year was finished, which for my boys is next week.

I came across this grid patterned paper and I loved it.  I love a grid looking layout.  There is something so clean about the way it looks to me.  I loved most of all the little sections on this paper, and I decided the ones I didn't care for the most I could cover up or embellish.

I made myself some notes in pencil as to which ones I wanted to add photos to.  I also added some information that was perfect in some of the sections.  There was a spot with the days of the week listed, and since the kids have an nontraditional schedule, I thought this was a perfect spot to put this in there.

Another thing I always make sure to do on each of the kids school layout is their grade, school name and teachers name.  Then I make sure that somewhere on the page I have them hand write their name.  I love this element, so that we can compare each year to how their writing changes.  I always have them write it in pencil first and I carefully trace over it in pen.  Especially if they are writing right on the layout itself, this has saved us some major disasters a few times for sure.

I printed the photos I wanted to use from thier first day so that they would fit in the boxed I wanted them to go in.  I love this too because it makes it look like they now have perfect borders around the photos.

For the rest of the boxes, I tried to just add some basic embellishments that went with my back to school theme.  I added some word stickers all together to form somewhat of a subway art look, which I love.  I added some text stars, because to me anything with text says school and the same with stars.
I die cut a 4 from some yellow grid patterned paper that matched the rest of the layout, and the "th" and "grade" using black cardstock and attached those right in one of the boxes.

I finished off the last of the final touches with some yellow ruler washi tape on each photo, to give it the look that the tape was holding on each photo, and a small tiny paper clip on the top left card, that I also added to the layout.  I added a little journaling in a box that was lined and that completed my layout.

I am excited to be able to add this to his school album and maybe this coming year I can get it done before he is about done with the school year.

WEEK 12 - WELCOME TO OUR 2015 TEAM

We are so excited to announce our new 2015 Design Team!  Each of these ladies is talented and we can't wait to see what they come up with to help inspire you to use your stash and make some amazing layouts each week!  Here's a little more about them:

Hi my name is Felicia Young and I have been a scrapbooker for 18 years now.  I am a mother of three adult children and two grandchildren.  My husband and I have been married for more than 21 years and we enjoy each other's company.  Scrapbooking has been my passion as well as photography, which I am a certified photographer (that is my second passion).  I love to travel, take photos, and listen to a variety of all kinds of music.  When I am not scrapbooking or doing photography, you can catch me watching classic musicals and movies.

I first started with a bunch of photos of my children when they were babies and younger. It was then when I wanted to do something different with my photos, so I went to Target and there I found a box with a photo album and a bunch of die cuts, paper, stickers, a mini punch, and decorative edged scissors and I took it home.  That was my first kit!

Now I do more scrapbooking than ever, I am also a Project Lifer since Becky Higgins came out with the project life and it is now going on my 6th year! I have also developed quite a few techniques over the years and since my style of scrapbooking is clean, I incorporate the new styles as well as with some old school and new techniques and that is the way I stay fresh and motivated.

My name is Jen Stokes and I have been scrapbooking for about 15 years.  I am currently a WAHM and homeschool our 2 boys, aged 12 and 10.  I have a wonderful techy husband who loves photography.  We moved to the stunning Victoria, BC Canada about 3 years ago and in our adventures as permanent tourists and a busy family, I never run out of topics to scrap about.  I would classify myself as a fairly "clean" and linear scrapbooker, but I am always trying new things and do like to get messy once in a while.  I am quite active on social media and started doing process videos this year for both layouts and Project Life.  I scrapbook to tell our stories.  To capture our memories.  I used to only scrapbook the big events but now I relish telling the small moments, the things I don't want to forget or that I want to look back on in life and will make me smile.

Jennifer will be popping in every once in a while with a great layout for us!

My name is Nicole Mantooth.  I live in southern California with my husband Jacob and our 3 kiddos.  Little Jacob is 10, Caleb is 7 and Chloe is 5.  I love photography, scrapbooking, I am a project lifer, and making wood signs.  I also love to read.  I love spending any free time we can find with my husband and the kids.  I love going on walks and watching Lifetime movies.  I love being crafty and can most often be found in our office working on something.  I am looking forward to sharing layouts with you while I am here.

Hello!  I am honored to be serving as the design team coordinator for Layout-A-Week!  I have been scrapbooking since 2003 and I haven't looked back.  It's my creative outlet and with a military husband and two girls and two dogs, I have plenty to document!  We are currently stationed at our fourth base, in New Mexico, and my husband and I are both originally from Florida.  I am a stay-at-home mom and wouldn't have it any other way.  I do process videos on YouTube and I also am active on social media.  I hope to help inspire and spark some ideas for you and get inspired in return with our awesome team!

We are so excited to bring you a new layout with stepped out tutorials and videos each Tuesday.  We hope you join us each week, we'd love to see what you make!
